O2 Arena (millennium dome)

In order to celebrate the new millennium the world's biggest dome was constructed on the Meridian Line (GMT) in Greenwich.

It has been calculated that it could hold 18,000 double-decker buses or the Eiffel Tower laid on its side.

Much controversy has surrounded its design and development and after years of lying empty it has now been bought by AEG and been developed into an entertainment stadium.

The new 20,000 capacity indoor arena is the most popular music arena in the world. There is also a live music venue – indigO2 - with a capacity of 2,350, The O2 bubble – a state of the art exhibition space that is currently host to Michal Jackson: The Official Exhibition and the British Music Experience, a permanent, high-tech, interactive music museum, an 11 cinema complex, and a vibrant ‘Entertainment District' featuring a variety of bars, restaurants, and leisure facilities including the 2,500 capacity nightclub, matter.

The O2 is an official venue for the 2012 Olympics hosting both the gymnastic and basketball events.
